$1,700,000 Goal for 2006 Sleep Out Season

Dear Friends,

We’re officially into our 11th Sleep Out season! We kicked it off once again with many volunteers bringing the community together on a chilly night on Lake Street in Wayzata. I continue to hear about new people getting involved this year, helping achieve the goal for Interfaith Outreach to assist more families. While I continue to be Shoe Bob by day, I will be Bob the Builder by night…a new title for me!

As many of you know, I am working towards a national Sleep Out by sharing the success story of this community with other nonprofit organizations like Interfaith Outreach, helping them attain the same level of awareness and fundraising for homeless in their cities across the country. Documenting all the working parts to write the “Manual for a Sleep Out” is a bigger task than I’d thought. I guess I forgot how much goes into each new season!

Those of you who know me know I’m tall on passion but short on attention to details. Therefore, you can be certain that I have many people helping me behind the scenes to make this happen, just like all the volunteers behind the scenes of our annual Sleep Out who have made it the success it is. I also want to let you all know that I have pitched my tent in my front yard and will be sleeping out every night beginning Dec 1 until our goal for 2006 is achieved.

I will be cheering you all on as I work within a variety of circles. One of our new participants last year was ARDIE & FRIENDS, led by Bonnie Huntley, a resident Wayzata artist who has painted “Our Town” for calendars and note cards, which make great gifts. Look for their products on Saturdays at Wayzata Bay Center from 9 to 2. Or buy online at www.ardieandfriends.com. Proceeds benefit Interfaith Outreach.

My website will keep you updated on national Sleep Out developments as well as ways to benefit Interfaith Outreach. Click on the links for more details and ways to contribute to Interfaith Outreach.

Thanks for all you do!
